A message from the author:

Why you MUST learn to market your writing

Dear fellow writer

Marketing skills are important for authors (writers who write books), freelance writers, copywriters (writers for business) — whatever kind of writing you do, you must be able to promote not only your work, but also yourself.

The world has changed. When I started writing, a generation ago, in the late 1970s, everyone had more time, and there were more markets, and more editors. Editors built their own careers, nurtured writers, and everyone's loyalty was taken for granted. Editors were loyal to their bosses, and to writers. You could assume that if you sold Editor A something, Editor A would buy your next piece of writing, whatever it was, simply because people stayed at their jobs longer. Today, if you sell Editor A your book, there's no guarantee that Editor A will still be with the publisher when your book hits the bookshops.

Today, there are fewer publishing houses and fewer magazines. Fewer editors work at the markets that remain. They don't have the time to edit, let alone nurture writers. Your writing must be publishable as it leaves your office-no one has the time to get an 'almost right' manuscript into shape.

Understanding today's publishing climate helps you in your marketing efforts. You'll understand that editors don't have the time to respond to you unless they're ready to buy, so you won't take a lack of response to heart.

Tell, Yell And Sell: Marketing Skills For Writers will teach you how to market in today's frenetic publishing climate.

If you love marketing, you're going to love this manual. You'll learn how to sell more with less effort, how to multiply the effects of your marketing, and your career will hit new heights.

If you hate marketing, you'll love this manual too. You'll discover how to market, you'll get excited about the possibilities, and no matter where your career is right now, it will zoom into the stratosphere.

This book is the key to your success as a writer.

Enjoy it.

All best wishes

Angela Booth
